If you wanted to hire a contractor to remodel your kitchen, before they gave you a price they would need to inspect your existing kitchen, take measurements, learn your material and color preferences, understand your vision, and much more. Many contractors charge for this phase since it requires a lot of time and effort.
Building a robust website or application is equally complex, yet agencies rarely use a similar process estimating cost and time needed to complete the project!
Typically, a project is scoped based on a limited understanding gained from brief phone conversations or a request for proposals. The estimates are wild guesses at best and the results are padded numbers and large time buffers to play it safe. If the client accepts the proposal, a discovery workshop is scheduled to hash out the project details.
At Dwaiter, we understand that when the time comes to build your next business website or mobile app, you will be anxious to know the pricing and timeframe. But experience has taught us that when running a discovery workshop, our team and the client often come up with several great ideas to enhance the project. And those new ideas almost always go beyond the scope of the original proposal, causing limitations or feature creep.
So, we decided to take a new approach: workshop first.
What does workshop first mean? The discovery workshop no longer is the initial step in a project; rather, it is the first step in preparing a proposal. This change helped us and prospective clients to scope projects with precision, which in turn has allowed for innovation, accuracy and optimization. We do not charge for these sessions because they save us (and prospective clients) so much time and money.
If you are ready to discuss your next project, we would love to hear from you and schedule your discovery workshop.
